Abstract: Glasscintillators are highly stable detection materials that play a crucial role in medicalimaging,security inspection,and various other applications.They alsoprovide enhanced adaptabilityand detection performance in extreme environments,such as deep-sea,deep underground,deep space,and nuclear reactor.However,the developmentandapplicationofcommerciallavailableGSseriesglassscintilatorsarehinderedbytheirrelativelylow lightyieldand narrowapplicationrange(neutron field),which are insufficient to meet the demands of ΔX -raydetection applications.Consequently,there isan urgent need to developaseriesof glassscintillators with superior ΔX -ray detectionperformancetosatisfytherequirements inX-rayandrelated fields.Inrecentyears,significantprogresshas benmade inthedevelopmentof X-ray-related glassscintilator materials,the explorationof their mechanisms,and theexpansionof theirapplications.However,fewstudies have specificaly focusedon X-raydetectionglass scintillators as adistinct topic,addressng their development and applications.This paper provides a brief overview of the historicaldevelopment,materialclasification,detectionprinciples,detectionparameters,andfabricationprocesses of X-raydetection glass scintilltors.Itparticularly emphasizes thedesign concepts,research advancements,detection performance,andchallenges associated with rare-earth-basedand perovskite-type glassscintilators.Additionally,the paperexplores futuredirectionsandchallnges in X-raydetection glassscintillators,taking into acountcommon issues and the current state of development in this field.
