High-efficiency Blue Quantum Dots Achieved Through Shell Growth Rate Regulation

Abstract:Quantumdots(QDs)exhibit high photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY),high color purity,and solutionprocessability,makingthemwidelyappliedinthefieldof lightinganddisplays.However,achieving high-efciency andstable blueQDsand theirdevicesremains asignificant chalenge.Inthis work,CdZnS/ZnScore-shellstructure blue QDs were investigated,withoctanethiol(OT)as thesulfur precursorforshel growth.Theshellgrowth rate was tuned by controlingthe injectionrateofOT,enabling controlldepitaxial growth.The impactofshell growthrateonshellquality andthe photoluminescence performance of CdZnS/ZnS QDs was systematicallanalyzed through testing methods such as transmission electron microscopyandtransient/steady-statefluorescencespectroscopy.Theresultsshow thatmoderatelyreducing the growth rate effectively promotes uniform shell growth,achieving a high PLQY of 98 % and a narrow full width at half maximum(FWHM)of 22nm.However,excessively slowgrowth rates result inanisotropic shellgrowth,accompaniedbytheKirkendall efect,resulting inalarge numberof lattce defects thatreduce the photoluminescence performance.This work deepens the understanding of how growth rate affects the quality of QDs shell growth.
