Abstract Thediscovery of the reprinted edition of the Gazeteer ofMount Potalaka，dating back to the 26th year of the Wanli reign（1598）and housed inthe Japanese CabinetLibrary，holds great significance.Acomparative analysis between the 17th year of Wanli （1589）edition and the Recompiled Gazetteer of Mount Putuo from the 35th year of Wanli （1607） revealsthat the1598reprint contains numerous textual additions and omissions，aswell as notable diferences in structure.These variationsofernewperspectivesforresearchonMount Putuo’s history，thedevelopment anddeclineof its temples，and its geographical features.Due to itsunique bibliographic value，this edition serves asan important supplement to extant gazetees of MountPutuo in China and provides afresh reference point forongoing historical and cultural studies of the region.
