Abstract Guided bythe paradigm of“external history，”this paper takesa holisticapproach toexamine thesocial contributions of women libraryscholars duringtheRepublicofChina period（1912—1949）.Itreveals that，besides their involvement inlibrary work and academic research，these women actively engaged with broader society.Through their participation ineducation，support for women’s emancipation，promotionof scientificandacademic innovation，and service inpublicaffairs，theyplayedavitalroleinadvancingsocialprogressTeirefortsreflectboththeintellctual vitality and the sense of social responsibility demonstratedby women librariansamid the broader transformations of modern Chinese society.
