Educational needs for prevention of adverse events due to immunotherapy in patients with lung cancer after neoadjuvant therapy: A single-center observational study

【AbstractObjective:Immunecheckpointinibitors(ICIs）cansignificantlyimprovetheclinicalprognosisofvarious typesofcancer andarencreasinglyusedinsurgicalcombinationthrapyforlungancer.However,ICIscancausesriousofatalimmuneelateddverseevnts(iAEs）ndiepaintassssmntdfilyrainngaresentialforterevetonofiEsineouatimunotherapy.Terefoe,tisstudyimstodterinetheeducatioaldsfortepreventionofirEsinptientsithlungcaceater neoadjuvanttherapyMethds:Aretrospectiveanalysiswaspeformedforthemedicalrecordsof178patientswithlungcancerwho receivedeoadjuvantherapyfromMarch2021toSeptember2023,andthefrequencyandseverityofiAEsandunplannedhospitalizationduetirEswereevalated.Educatioaleedswereaseedbasedoninitialsymptos,aregivers,telepoecouseling,nd theintervalbetweentheappearancofsptomsadtheaivalatthospital.Results:Amongth78patintsavilableforsesment,86 patients ( 48.3% )experienced irAEs during the study period.Pneumonia observed in13 patients was the most common irAE requiringhospitalizatioflledyeratitisinpatintsddrealisufiencin2patiets.hresaelatielyighicidencerateofsevereirAEsrequiring hospitalizationamongthepatientswithlungcancerreceiving neoadjuvanttherapy.Conclusion: Severe irAEscaneavoidedthroughtrainingofrelatedknowldgeforpatientsandtheirfmilies,timelyassssmentandreportingof slightchanges insymptomsafterneoadjuvanttherapybycaregivers,focusoncommonlyobservesevere irAEs,andearlydetection.
