The Impact of "Amphibious" Individuals' Returning Hometowns for Entrepreneurship on theEfficiency of Resource Allocation at the County Level： Based on the Dimensions of Identity Identification and Distance Effects

Abstract："Amphibious"individualsplayacrucialroleinpromoting the eficiencyofresources alocationwithincounties byreturning totheir hometowns for entrepreneurship.Drawing onpaneldata from153O countiesacrossChina betwen 2009 and 2O23，this paper treats the return hometown entrepreneurship pilot policyas aquasi-natural experiment.It employsamulti-periodDIDmethodtoanalyzetheeffectsof "amphibious”individuals‘entrepreneurialactivitieson county-levelresourcealocation efficiency from multiple perspectives.The studyreveals that "amphibious"individuals' returning hometowns forentrepreneurshipsignificantlyenhancescounty-levelresource allcationefficiencyespeciallyin coastalandborderareas，regionswith lower levelsof coordinateddevelopment，andlabor-importing provinces;when "amphibious"individualsengageinentrepreneurship，theytakeon tripleroles—asproducers，consumers，and disseminators—therebytrigering productionconsumption，ndagglomerationeffctsthatsubstantiallyboostcounty-level resourcallocationefficiency.Furtheranalysisreveals thattheentrepreneurialactivitiesof "amphibious"individuals returning totheir hometowns leadto the most significant improvement incounty-levelresource alocation，particularly within a 40-80 kilometer radius of the core county.
