Abstract:In viewof thelow detectionaccuracyand misseddetections caused bysignificantshape variations,overlapping and occlusionsof prohibited items inX-rayimages,aswell asithesmall sizeof such items,this paperproposes an X - ray securityinspectionimageprohibiteditemdetectionalgorithmnamedHPGD-YOLOv11n,anditisbasedontheimproved YOLOvl1n.IntheBackbonepart,thealgorithmreplacesthebackbonenetworkoforiginalYOLOvl1nwithalightweight backbonenetwork HGNetV2-l,whichreducesthenumberofparametersandcomputationalloadbyoptimizingtheconvolutional structurewhilemaintaining featureextractioncapability.IntheNeck part,amoduleP-GELANisintroduced.Thismodule effectivelycapturesthedetailsofsmallobjectsbyconcatenating shallowanddepfeature maps,andenhances themulti-scale featurefusionabilitywhilereducingthenumberofparameters.IntheHeadpart,theextractioncapabilityofthemodelformultidimensionalfeaturesanditsabilitytodynamicallyadjusttodiferentinputshavebeenenhancedbyadjustingthedetectionhead of theoriginalYOLOv11ntoaDynamic Head.Experiments wereperformedonthedatasetSIXray.Theexperimentsshowthat the mean averageprecision (mAP @0.5 )ofthe improved algorithm reaches 94.2%,and itsmAP@0.5:0.95 reaches 72.3%, whichis 1.1% and 2.10% higher than those ofthe original algorithm YOLOv11n.In addition,its parameter quantityis reduced by 19.2% .The proposed method achieves lightweight design while maintaining high detection accuracy,so it demonstrates excellent effectiveness and practical value.
