Abstract:This paperproposesajoint optimization method for loudspeaker andmicrophone positions tooptimize the placementsof loudspeakersandmicrophones.Themethodis basedonSchmidtorthogonalizationandmutual information.Inthe firststep,theloudspeakerpositionsareseletedbyteSchmidtorthogonalizationmethod,aximizingthelinearindependeneofthe selected loudspeakertransferimpedancevectors.Inthesecondstep,the microphonepositionsareselected bymutualinformation maximizationmethod,ensuringthattheselectedmicrophonepositionsarethosewherethesoundfieldinformationisleast perceived.The simulationresultsshowthatthe numberof speakers required bythis method inthe frequencyband below 1600Hz (20 isreducedbyorethanreeincomparisonwiththatequiredbyeempicalinterpolationmetod,anditssignal-todistortion ratio(SDR)issiilartothatofthmpicalinterpolationmethod,anditsignificantlyupefosthandomplaceetetod and the regular placement method.At 800Hz ,the normalized squared error (NSE) of the proposed method is reduced by approximately 30% in comparison with those of therandom placement method and the regular placement method,and its sound pressuredistributionishighlyconsistentwiththeexpectedsoundfield,whichverifyitseficiencyandstability.Theproposed methodhasagoodsoundfieldcontrolefectandcanreduce thenumberof loudspeakersand microphones.Inconclusion,it providestheoretical supportand practical solutionsforthe eficient deployment of the sound field control systems.
