Effect of Salinity on Methane Production from Anaerobic Digestion of Chicken Manure with HighSolidsContent

Abstract:Thisstudyaimedtoinvestigatetheefectsofsaliityontheanaerobicdigestionsystemandmethaneproductionofchicken manure.Chicken manurewas mixedwithaaerobicactivesudgeandsupplemented withNaClat0(CK),5.0(1),5.0(H2)d5. g/kg (H3).The dynamicsofpH,electricalconuctiity(EC),hemical oxygendemand (COD),voatilefatyacids,ammoiaroen, and methane production were monitored.Theresultsshowed thatthesystemineach groupdemonstrated stableanaerobicdigestionof chicken manureand goodbuferingcapacity,withpH7.0-8.2.TheECineachgrouprose withfuctuationsovetimeandaised with theincreaseinsalinity.Salinityhadaminorinibitoryefectonthedegradationofnitrogencompounds.Aceticcidandpropionic acid werethemaincomponentsaccumulatedinthefermentationliquidineachgroup.Afterthereaction,themethaneproductionof Hl treatment was the highest, reaching 4863.16mL ,and the methane production of H1,H2,and H3 treatments increased by 46.69% (20 41.62% ,and 40.01% ,respectively,compared with that of CK. Therefore,adding an appropriate amount of NaCl can increase the methane production from anaerobic digestion ofchicken manure,and the addition of 5.0g/kg NaCl exerted the best yield-increasing effect.
