Abstract:The theory of "restraining harmful hyperactivity to acquire harmony, "centeredon the generation, restriction, inhibition, and transformationrelationshipsamong the five elements,is asignificantcomponent of the theoreticalsystem of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Itprovidesa methodological guidance forclinical acupuncture and moxibustion treatments.Basedonthis theory, this article elucidates the TCM pathogenesisof ervical high-risk human papilomavirus(HR-HPV)infection.The rotcause is considered tobe deficiencyof thespleen and kidney,in whichfailureofrestrictionleads to insuficiencyof healthyqianddecreasedresistance topathogenicfactors. The manifestations involve dampness-toxin accumulation and liver depression and qi stagnation, where hyperactivity becomes harmful and presents a prolonged and refractorycourse.Acupuncture and moxibustion treatment emphasizes supporting the healthyqi to restore restriction mechanismsand eliminating pathogens to balance hyperactivity. This involvesreinforcing thespleenand tonifying the kidney to strengthen therootcause, whileresolving dampnessand relieving stagnation to aleviate symptoms, thereby modulating immune function, stabilizing hormone levels, improving the local microenvironment of the cervix, and promoting viral clearance.
