Analysis of the unqualified reason and process improvement of magnetic particle flaw detection of 6oSi2Cr tension spring for construction machinery

Abstract:Inorder to investigate the cause of unqualified magnetic particleflaw detection of6OSiCr tension spring for construction machinery,the failure analysis of the unqualified samples of magnetic particle testing of Φ47 mm 60Si2Cr tension spring was carried out by using optical microscope,scanning electron microscope and other testing equipment.The results showthatthefailure was dueto minordepresions onthe surfaceof the spring.There were severalclear whitelines in thedepression area,and thehardness diference betweenthe white line areaand the surrounding areas was 66to 87HV.The Si,Cr,and Mnelementcontentsinthe whitelinearea were higher thanthose inthesurroundingareas.The whitelinearea corresponded tothecornerofthebillet,andthepresenceofcornercracksandcompositionsegregationinthebiletwere the root causes ofthefailure.Measures such asreducing the cooling intensityofcontinuous castingcoling water,increasing the heating temperature,and extending the holding time were taken to improve thecorner cracksand composition segregationof the billet,thus solving the problem offailed magnetic particle inspection.
