Abstract: Traditional knowledge and technical systems serve as a pivotal driving force for the dynamic inheritance and sustainable development of Important Agricultural Heritage Systems. Yet, in-depth academic research on their systematic cognition and conservation has long been lacking. Amid the rapid progress of urbanization and industrialization, the intergenerational transmission of such systems are facing severe threats. Departing from the theoretical foundation and evolutionary context of the concept of Systematic Conservation, this paper adopts the “element-structure-function"cognitive framework. Based on a case analysis of complex types of Important Agricultural Heritage Systems, it summarizes three systematic characteristics of traditional knowledge and technical systems in terms of hierarchy,wholeness and vitality,and further proposes targeted strategies for their systematic conservation:at the ontological level, implement authentic,holistic and dynamic conservation of the distinctive elements, structures and functions of traditional knowledge and technical systems; at the methodological level, refine the conservation system and comprehensively elevate the capacity for heritage conservation through five dimensions,namely institutionalization,collaboration, professionalization, digitalization and socialization.
