ABSTRACTOBJECTIVETooferreferencesandimplementationpaths forupdatingandenhancing theChina’scurrent esential medicines listsystem，formulatingaspecificlistof esential medicines forchildrenin China，promotingtheresearchand developmentof pediatric medications，and improvingtheaccesibilityandsafetyofpediatric medicationsforchildren.METHODS Comparativeanddescriptiveanalysiswasutilizedtostatisticallyanalyetheclasification，dosagefoms，specifications，disease spectrum，andsymbolicannotationsof the9theditionoftheWHOModelListofEssentialMediciesforChildren（WHOEMLc）. DiferenceswerecomparedamongWHOEMLc，the2018NationalEsentialMedicinesList（NEML），andfivebatchesoftheList ofEncouragedR&DandDeclarationofPediatricDrugsissedbytheNationalHealthCommisionfrom2016to2024.The availabilityof drugs inthe9th editionof WHO EMLcin China was discussd.RESULTS& CONCLUSIONS The differences between the two lists were relatively substantial.A total of 1O1 drugs overlapped，accounting for 27.98% of the total number of drugs inthe 9th editionof theWHOEMLc.Compared withthe2018NEML，the9theditionofthe WHOEMLc showed notable advantagesinthediversityofpediatric-apropriatedrugtypes，dosageformadaptability，andspecificationprecision.TeListof EncouragedR&DandDeclarationofPediatricDrugs，tosomeextent，hadfiledthegapinChina’spediatricmedications， enriching the variety of drug types and dosage forms for children. However，nearly 80% of the drugs on the list were not yet marketed，stillfacingproblemssuchasalowR&Dconversionrateandinsuicientpolicyincentiveeffects.Itisrecommendedto establishatieredandclasified pediatricessentialmedicineslistbasedonChina’snationalconditions，drawingontheselection experienceof theWHanddevelopedcountries/regions；strengthensupprtfortheR&Dofappopriatepediatricdosage formsand specifications；implementpolicypreferences throughouttheentirecycleofaplication，reviewandprocurement；encourage evidence-basedpediatricpractices，aceleratetheR&D，marketlaunch，andselectionprocessesofpediatricesentialmedicines，andensure the accessibilityof pediatric medicines.
