Abstract:A novel epoxy resin with excellent strength and toughness was constructed by introducing benzotriazole(BTA)as a side group into the epoxy resin skeleton and utilizing the coordination effect between BTA and metal ions. The structure of epoxy resin was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,and the interaction between BTA and copper ions was explored through a combination of theoretical calculations,UV- Vis spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results demonstrate that the introduction of BTA into epoxy resin and immersion in a O.1 mol/L copper ion solution significantly improve its mechanical properties,with tensile strength increasing from O.929 MPa to 4.39 MPa and elongation at break increasing. The significant improvement in mechanical properties is attributed to the metal coordination between BTA and copper ions, whose dynamic and reversible binding and fracture behavior helps disspate energy in the polymer network,thereby achieving synchronous enhancement of toughness and strength of epoxy resin.
