雾霾、慢暴力与地质回响:《普鲁弗洛克的情歌》的人类世尺度批判
Title: Fog, Slow Violence and Geological Reverberations: A Critique of The Love Song ofJ. Alfred Prufrock on the Triple Scale in the Anthropocene
Abstract: The Anthropocene, characterized by its dual dynamics of geological rupture and epistemic disruption, has fundamentally reconfigured literary criticism, driving ecocriticism's "scalar turn” and advocating an examination of global environmental crises that transcends traditional ecocriticism's“fixation on the local".Adapting a multi-scalar analytical approach,T. S. Eliot's modernist poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, composed at the 2Oth century geological threshold of human impact, prefigures the predicaments of the Anthropocene that operate across three scalar dimensions: at the micro-scale, it reveals the toxic entanglement of body and environment through “transcorporeality";at the meso-scale, it unveils the slow violence perpetuated by class-stratified society cognitively obscuring ecological crises; and at the macro-scale, it employs apocalyptic metaphors to bridge deep-time geological, pointing towards the formulation of a new care ethics. This trans-scalar interpretation not only reassesses the prescient value and environmental narrative potential of this poem, but also opens up interdisciplinary interpretive paths for poetic ecocriticism in the Anthropocene.
