Effect of Negative Pressure Irrigation on Growth and Nutrient Absorption of Strawberry

Abstract:【Objective】To determine the optimal irigation negative pressurevalue for eficient water-saving irigation techniques,theefectsofnegativepressureirigationonthegrowthandnutrientabsorptionofgreenhousestrawberieswere investigated.【Methods】Using‘Santa’and‘Benihoppe’strawberries as experimental materials,a pot experiment waconducted with manual irrigation as the control group (CK). Two negative pressure levels ( -5kPa and -10kPa )were compared to assess teir efects on soil moisture status,water consumption,growth performance,and nutrient absorption.【Results】 Compared to CK,the cumulative irrigation water volume for‘Santa’decreased by 11.40% and 64.74% under -5kPa and -10kPa treatments,respectively,while‘Benihoppe’decreased by 43.60% and 79.04% . In terms of growth indicators,the -5kPa treatment showed no significant difference from CK,while the -10kPa treatment was significantly lower. For‘Benihoppe’,multiple growth indicators were comparable to CK under the -5kPa treatment but significantly declined under the -10kPa treatment. Aditionally,the nitrogen,phosphorus,and potassium content and absorption in the aboveground parts, as well as nitrogen and phosphorus translocation/accumulation,were significantly higher than CK under the -5 kPa treatment. 【Conclusion】 The -5kPa negative pressure irrigation condition was successfully identified as suitable for enhancing the productioneficiencyof grenhousestrawberries,providingatheoreticalbasisfortheeficientutilizationof waterresources in modern agriculture and the innovation of agronomic water-saving technologies.
