The Mechanism of Carbon Reduction Effect of Green Energy under the Dual Carbon Goals

Abstract: Against the backdrop of global eforts to address climate change and accelerate energy transition,the development of green energy has become a core issue for the international community. Based on China’ s natural energy resource endowment and the background of traditional energy enterprise transformation,this paper uses panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2O14 to 2O22 to systematically examine the direct impact of green energy eficiency on carbon emissions and its indirect effects through industrial structure upgrading,providing theoretical support and policy implications for achieving the"Dual Carbon”Goal.Through empirical analysis and testing of the relationship between green energy and carbon emissions,a fixed effects model and a mediation effect model were constructed.The following conclusions were drawn: there is a significant negative correlation between green energy efficiency and carbon emissions,and increasing the proportion of clean energy consumption can effectively promote the achievement of the“Dual Carbon"Goals.This emission reduction effect exhibits differential characteristics in diferent regions,with a more prominent negative correlation in central and western provinces.The upgrading of industrial structure plays a significant mediating role in the path of green energy carbon emission reduction. Based on empirical results,this article suggests formulating differentiated regional green energy development policies,strengthening the construction of green technology innovation system, optimizing energy consumption structure, and guiding the public to form green consumption patterns, in order to fully tap into the carbon reduction potential of green energy.
