Research on the Thoughts of Human Rights Protection in the "Six Policies of Caring for the People” in The Rites of Zhou

Abstract:“Nourishing allthe people through the six policies of caring for them” embodies the thoughts of human rights protection in The Rites of Zhou.“Cherishing the young”was to protect women and children.“Supporting the elderly”was to safeguard the rights and interests of the elderly.“Relieving the poor” was to help those who encountered sudden changes.“Sympathizing with the poor” was to assist the poor. “Caring for the disabled and the sick”was to protect the disabled and the sick.“Ensuring prosperity”was to create a stable social environment and enable commoners to become wealthy. The“six policies of caring for the people”in The Rites of Zhou were implemented to varying degrees in various dynasties from the Han Dynasties onwards,creating many typical cases. These human rights thoughts of “six policies of caring for the people” are characterized by civil rights,pragmatism,and systematicness,with a particular emphasis on economic support.
