Abstract:The"whitepolution"causedbytraditional plasticmulch filmsposesasignificantthreattotheecological environment. Increasing environmental awareness and the widespread adoption of sustainable development principles have propeled full biodegradablemulch films intoaresearch hotspot.Poly(butyleneadipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT)-based filmsexhibit excelent properties;modifying these films through dopingcanenhancetheiroverallperformance while reducingcosts.Toproducecost-eectivefunctionalagriculturalbiodegradablefilms,thisstudyutilizedtwodistinclayered double hydroxides (LDHs) and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) , blending them with PBAT via twin-screw extrusion to prepare composite masterbatches.PBAT-based composite filmswere subsequently fabricated from these masterbatches using extrusionblow molding.Aseries of structural and performance tests verified the feasibilityof blending LDHs into PBAT composite films.These tests analyzed the effects of both modified and unmodified LDHs,as well as CaCO3 ,on the structure and propertiesofthecomposite fims.Theresults demonstrate thatLDHsdonotafectthe structureorcrystalinityof PBAT withintecompositefilms.Whileblendingincreased filmcrystalinityitreducedthermalstability.LDHsimproved the mechanical properties and reduced theanisotropyof the films.Among the experimental groups,the composite film incorporating CaCO3 alongside unmodified LDHs exhibited the optimal mechanical performance.Furthermore,the compositefilmsshowedenhanced waterbarierpropertiesandhydrophobicity.Lighttransmitanceexhibitednosignificant change,but haze decreased,resulting in improved light transmission characteristics.
