High frequency laser scanning system for measuring wire diameter

Abstract:To address the issues of detection accuracy and stability in rapid real-time measurement of tubular wire materials,a wire diameter measurement system with STM32 as the core controller was designed based on the CCD shadow method principle. The system employs a linear CCD sensor and two mutually perpendicular high-frequency laser sources with a maximum scanning frequency of 2 500 scans/s,enabling real-time capture of laser diffraction patterns. Leveraging STM32's data acquisition and processing capabilities,the system obtains the outer diameter dimensions of measured wires. It also features an RS-485 communication interface for real-time display of measurement data on a PC terminal or TFT touch screen. Test results demonstrate that the prototype achieves a measurement accuracy error of ±3μm for wire diameters ranging from 15 to 24mm while maintaining high-precision measurement stability during prolonged operation. This wire diameter measurement system enables fast and accurate real-time monitoring of large-diameter tubular wire materials, providing a reliable measurement solution for related application fields.
