Development of disease knowledge scale for sarcopenia and its reliability and validity test

Abstract  Objective：To establish the disease knowledge scale for sarcopenia and test its reliability and validity.Methods：The initial scale was developed through a comprehensive literature review， followed by two rounds of Delphi letter inquiry and a pre-survey. From January to June， 2023， a total of 304 patients with possible sarcopenia from four tertiary Grade A hospitals in Guizhou province were surveyed to construct a formal scale.Results：The disease knowledge scale for sarcopenia included 5 dimensions of etiology，clinical manifestation， harm， diagnosis and treatment，and 18 items.The authority coefficient were 0.917，0.921.Kendall's W were 0.219，0.297（all P<0.001）. The S⁃CVI was 0.970，Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.935.Conclusion：The constructed disease knowledge scale for sarcopenia has good reliability，validity，scientificity and practicability， and it can be used as a tool to evaluate the disease knowledge level of patients with sarcopenia.
