Chinesization of Patient⁃Perceived Self⁃Management Tasks and Support Needs Questionnaire and its reliability and validity test

Abstract  Objective：To translate the Patient⁃Perceived Self-Management Tasks and Support Needs Questionnaire（PPSTSNQ），and test its reliability and validity in patients with chronic diseases.Methods：A total of 243 patients with chronic diseases was selected from 2 medical institutions in Hubei province as the research subjects from May to July 2022 by convenient sampling method.The Brislin translation model was used to translate PPSTSNQ.The Chinese version of PPSTSNQ for formal investigation was formed by cultural adaptation and pre-investigation.Patients were investigated by Chinese version of PPSTSNQ to test reliability and validity.Results：The Chinese version of PPSTSNQ contained two sub questionnaires，the one was Perceived Self⁃Management Tasks（PST） and another one was  Self⁃Management Support Needs（SSN）.The overall content validity of the questionnaire was 0.944，and the content validity of the PST sub questionnaire and the SSN sub questionnaire were 0.947 and 0.940，respectively.The exploratory factor analysis results showed that the PST sub questionnaire and SSN sub questionnaire extracted 4 common factors and 3 common factors，with cumulative variance contribution rates of 53.142% and 67.704%，respectively.Cronbach's α coefficient of the overall questionnaire was 0.903，and the retest reliability was 0.914.The split half reliability of the PST sub questionnaire and SSN sub questionnaire were 0.703 and 0.921，respectively.Conclusions：The Chinese version of PPSTSNQ has good reliability and validity that can be used as a tool to assess the task perception of self-management and support needs of patients with chronic diseases in China.
