The English Translation Problems and Optimization Strategies of Artifact Names in Local Museums A Case Study of the Anhui Chu Culture Museum CHENG Yue

Abstract: The translation of artifact names is crucial to the global dissemination of Chinese cultural heritage. Beyond language conversion, it involves terminologystandardization, cultural interpretation, and communication strategy. Local museums,as key platforms for presenting regional civilizations,depend on accurate and culturally expressive translations to enhance international understanding.This study analyzes over 200 bronze artifact names from the Anhui Chu Culture Museum,identifying issues such as misinterpreted naming conventions,inconsistent terminology,limited cultural context, and unbalanced linguistic structure.To address these challenges,it proposes four strategies: establishing standardized terminology,strengthening cultural annotation,refining linguistic expression,and integrating generative AI tools.These strategies aim to improve translation professionalism and support the effective international communication of regional Chinese cultures.
