Research on the Influence of Digital Skills on Farmers' Income Increase -Empirical Analysis Based on CFPS Data

Abstract： The strategy of rural revitalization and digital China provides a historic opportunity for farmers to increase their income，and the improvement of digital skils is an important prerequisite for farmers to grasp this historic opportunity.Based on the panel data of Chinese Family Panel Studies（CFPS） from 2018 to 2020，this paper analyzes the impact of digital skils on farmers' income from both theoretical and empirical aspects by constructing a theoretical framework for the impact of digital skils on farmers' income increase.The results show that the improvement of digital skills is conducive to the increase of farmers' income and has a greater impact on farmers' non-agricultural income than agricultural income.The mechanism analysis shows that digital skils can produce information transfer effect and social capital effect and promote the entrepreneurship ofrural households，thus boosting the increase of rural households'income. Heterogeneity research shows that the impact of digital skils on farmers' income is diffrent between generations and income levels. The impact on the new generation and the Mesozoic generation is greater than that of the old generation，and the impact on the lowest and highest income group is greater than that of the middle income group. Based on this，it is proposed to strengthen the construction of digital countryside and improve the digital skils and literacy of farmers. Increase farmers' non-agricultural income while promoting the digitization of agriculture; Smooth the information channel， improve the farmers' interpersonal communication and self-employment ability； Pay attention to digital abandonment， focus on the diferentiated development of different income groups and other suggestions.
