Research on the Schema Design of Huainan Chu Bronze Wares Based on Semiotics

Abstract: Huainan Chu culture is an important component that cannot be ignored in Chu culture, presenting the aesthetic paradigm of the late Chu culture.Based on the perspective of design studies,this article takes the patterns of Huainan Chu-style bronzes as the research object,introduces Maurice's seminary theory,and comprehensively employs the methods combining literature collection,field investigation and practice to analyze the formal beauty and functional beauty of the patterns of Huainan Chu-style bronzes from three dimensions: semantics,morphology and pragmatics,interpreting the regional,ethnic and belief information contained behind the paterns of bronze wares at the semantic level; extracting the technological techniques, structures and morphological compositions of the paterns of bronze wares from the perspective of metaphysics;and analyzing the behavioral codes between the artistic patterns of bronze wares and humans, the social environment from the perspective of pragmatics,interpreting the deep logic behind the morphological patterns.Diferent from the single analysis of the physical form and content in traditional semiotics,the systematic study ofthe design ideas in the patterns of Chu bronze wares willopen up a new path for the related research on Chu culture and is of great significance for expanding the breadth and depth ofthe research on Chu culture.
