Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Chronic Atrophic Gastritis Based on the Theory of Eliminating the Old and Generating the New

Abstract：Chronic atrophic gastritis（CAG）is a complex condition characterized bya mixture of deficiency and excessdue totheprolonged illness affcting thecolaterals.The eliminating theoldand generating thenewmethodaims to remove pathological substances from the bodythrough various means while replenishing qi and protecting the stomach to restore normal physiological functions，therebyachieving the effects of generating new blood，new colaterals，and newtissues.The authors believe that CAG is often a syndrome of mixed deficiencyand excess，characterized byqi deficiencyand stagnation，andthe intermingling of phlegm，turbidity，and blood stasis.Treatmentshouldbe centered onthetheoryof eliminating theoldand generating thenew，targeting specific pathological mechanisms with methods such as sothing the liver and harmonizing the stomach，removing blood stasis andunblocking thecollaterals，and resolving phlegm and eliminating dampness to eliminate internal pathogens and promote the recovery of gastric mucosa and its functions.At the same time，replenishingqiand protecting the stomach helps to restore bodilyfunctions and facilitate the removal of pathological substances，thus allowing the regeneration of new membranes.
