Experimental Investigation ofRGB Chromaticity Shift in Mini/Micro-LEDs Under Electro-thermal Coupling Effect

Abstract:The expanding application scenariosof Mini/Micro-light emiting diode display technology requireoperation across wide temperature ranges and current density conditions.However,variations in ambient temperature and driving current inevitablyalterLEDemissioncharacteristics,leading tochromaticitycoordinateshiftsinRed-GreenBlue primariesand distortion of thecolor gamut,significantly degrading displaycolorperformance.Inthis work,the electro-thermal coupling efects onchromaticitycoordinateevolutionandtheresultantDigital Cinema Initiatives-Protocol3color gamut coverageratioaresystematically studied byanalyzing theemisionoptical propertiesof red, green,and blue Mini/Micro-LEDsunder diferenttemperatures and current densities.Experimental results demonstrate that temperature elevation induces synchronous chromaticitycoordinate shifts acrossallthree primary colors, withonlya minor reduction in color gamut coverage(less than 2% ).In contrast,increased current density causes significant color gamut degradation,reaching a maximum reduction of 15% .These findings highlight that current densityvariation exerts a moresevere impact oncolor performance than ambient temperature.Consequently,in developing Mini/Micro-LED displays,alongside thermal management strategies to mitigate temperature efects,it is criticalto optimize current regulation schemes and implement dynamiccolor gamut compensation algorithms to counteractcurrent-induced chromaticity deviations,thereby enhancing overall displayquality.
