Photo-assisted Non-aqueous Lithium-oxygen Batteries: Preparation and Prospect of Photocathode Materials

Abstract: Photo-assisted Li- batteries (LOBs)have remained a prominent and growing field over the past several years.However,the presence slow oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER), large charging and discharging overpotentials,and unstable cycle life lead to low energy eficiency,thus limiting theircommercialapplication.Therational designandsynthesis photocathode materialsare efective ways to solve the above existing problems photo-assistedLOB systems.Herein,the recent advances inthe designand preparation photocathode materials forphoto-assistedLOBs were summarized inthis review.First,we summarize thebasic principlesand comprehension thereaction mechanism forphoto-asssted LOBs.Thesecond part introduces the latestresearch progresson photocathode materials.The third section describes the relationship betweenthe structureproperties and electrochemistry diffrent photocathodes.Inadition,attempts toconstruct eficient photocathode materials for photo-assisted LOBs through vacancy enginering,localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR),and heterojunctionengineering are mainlydiscussed.Finally,adiscussionatempts toconstruct efficient photocathode materialsusing other approaches isalso presented.This work willmotivate the preparationstableand eficient photocathode materials forphoto-assistedLOBsandaims to promote thecommercial applicationrechargeable photo-assisted LOBs energy storage.
