[Abstract]Objective:Usingmultimodal methodsincludingvoxel-basedmorphometry(VBM)andfMRI,toexploretheimaging characteristicsvascularcognitiveimpairment(VCI).Methods:Atotalof11OVCIpatientswereassessd.UsingtheMontreal cognitiveasesment(MoCA)scores,56caseswithcognitiveimpairmentwereincludedintheobservationgroupand54without cognitiveimpairmentwereincludedinthecontrolgroup.Thediferencesoftotalintracranialvolume(TIV),graymatter volume(GMV),andfractional amplitudeof low-frequencyfluctuation(fALFF)valuesbetween the twogroupswerecompared. Finaly,theaboveindicesofdferentbrainregionsintheobservationgroupwereextractedfororelationanalysswithMCA score.Results:Therewerenostatisticallysignificantdiferencesin'age,genderoryearsofeducationbetweenthetwo groups (all P>0.05 ). The TIVwas( 1339.87±135.24)cm3 in the observation group and ( 1 341.57±134.02)cm3 in the control group,with no statistically significant difference between the two groups( P>0.05 ).The GMVwas (518.62±48.85)cm3 in the observation group and (536.84±62.53)cm3 in the control group,with a statistically significant difference between the two groups( P<0.05 ).Comparedwith thecontrol group,the observationgroup showed decreased GMVinthe bilateral medial superiorfrontalgyrus,bilateralsuperiorfrontalgyrusandrightanteriorcingulatecortex,andincreasedfALFFvaluesinthe bilateralcalcarine,bilateralsuperiorocipital gyrus,leftmiddleoccipitalgyrusandleftcuneus.Conclusion:MultimodalMRI preliminarilyrevealsthedstictstructuralandfunctionalneuroimagingcharacteristicsofVCIpatients,includingdecreased GMVinthefrontallobesandaberrantspontaneousactivityintheoccipitallobe,maycontributetofurtherexplorationof neuroimaging biomarkers and quantifiable diagnostic indicatorsfor VCI inthe future.
