Agricultur alUniversity,aiyuan3o31,hina;2.ColegeofResourcesandEnironment,haniAgriculturalUniersityJinzhong ,China;3.State KeyLaboratoryofDesertandOasis Ecology,Xinjiang InstituteofEcologyand Geography,Chinese Academy ofSciences,State KeyLaboratory ofEcosystem Security and Sustainable Developmentin Arid Regions,Urumqi ,China;4.FukangStationofDesertEcology,ChineseAcademyofSciences,Fukang 831505,China) Abstract:Soil organiccarbon(SOC)and inorganiccarbon(SIC),as two keycarbonpools,playcritical roles in maintaining carbonbalance,egulatingsoilhealth,andpromotingagriculturalsustanabilitythroughtheirinteractivemechanisms.Inrecent years,icreasing research has focused on the synergistic relationships between SOC and SIC,demonstrating their potential roles inenhancingaggregatestability,improving waterandnutrientretention,boosting microbialactivity,and increasingcar bonsequestrationpotential.Althoughcertainprogress hasbeenmade inunderstandingthedynamicsofSOCandSICandtheir responses tofarmland management practices,chalengesremainduetoincompletetheoreticalframeworksandunclearpractical pathwaysfor elucidating SOC-SIC interactions and their regional variability.This paper systematicallyelaborates on the main pathwaysand regulatory mechanismsofSOC-SIC interactions,with afocus on theimpactsofagricultural management practices such as fertilizationregimes,tillage practices,and strawreturnonthe synergistic efects ofSOCand SIC.Incorporating research progress from typicalregions like the LoessPlateau,the paper explores theiraplication potential inenhancing soil health in ecologicall fragileareas.There isanurgentned to strengthen multidisciplinary integration,developcoupledSOCSICmodels encompassingphysical,chemical,andbiologicalprocesses,andestablishregionallydierentiatedtechicalsys tems forsynergisticcarbonregulation.Theseefortswillprovidemore precisescientificfoundationsforachievingagricultural sustainability and soil health goals.
