Abstract:Timely seed dormancy and germination ensures that plants could successively survive and subsequently propagate under various environmental conditions,which is precisely regulated by endogenous phytohormones and exogenous environmental factors.Inrecent years,significant progress has beenmade in the regulation of seed dormancyand germination by abscisic acid(ABA)and gibberellin(GA),particularly with regard to the interaction between them.This article elaborates the molecular mechanisms underlying seed dormancy and germinationregulated by the metabolism and signal transductionof ABAand GA at the transcriptionaland post-translationallevels.Itfurtherexplorestheantagonisticeffectsand interactionsin mediating seed dormancy and germination between ABA and GA.Lastly,it comprehensively summarizes the research progress on the regulatory mechanisms by which the metabolismand signaling pathwayofABAand GA finely regulate seed dormancy and germination in response to external light and temperature signals.The aim of thisreview is to provide abeter understanding of the hormoneregulatory network of seed dormancy and germination and theoretical references for future in-depth studies on the mechanisms of seed dormancy and germination regulation by ABA and GA.
