Abstract：ThehistoricaloriginsofTaijiwhetheratributedtoChenjiagouin WenCountyorZhangSanfengof Wudang，lacks definitivesupport fromexisting literatureand historicalrecords.Yetkeyquestionspersist：whyistheoriginof the Zhejiang neijia quan depicted by Huang Zongxi and others during the Ming and Qing dynasties related to the Xuanwu and Zhang Sanfengof Wudang？Whydid theCentral Martial ArtsAcademysetupa“Wudang men”that was compatible with the “Shaolinmen”atthe beginningof itsestablishmentduringtheRepublicof China period？Whyhasthelong-standing notion of Zhang Sanfeng creating Taiji becomea cultural sentimentthatmany Taiji enthusiasts cannot shakeof？ Wudang Mountain isamajorstrongholdofChineseTaoism.Astheessnceoftheuniverseandthetransformationofallthings，Taijiisnataly animportant partof Wudang Taoism.Thisarticleanalyzes Wudang'sXuanwu deity worshipand the evolutionof its intemal martial arts through historical-cultural methodologies.
