Abstract:The conventional solidification structure of cast pure aluminum is coarse.Applyingan ultrasonic field andadding grain refinersduring the solidification processcan refine the grain size,thereby improving the comprehensivepropertiesof theally.Thispaper studies theeffctsof thecombined treatmentofAl-5Ti-1Brefiner andultrasonic fieldonthesolidification processandsolidification structureofpurealuminum.Theexperimentalresults show that thecombined treatment oftheultrasonic fieldand therefiner canachievea bettergrainrefinement ffect than when they actalone.As the ultrasonic power increases,the grain size gradually decreases,and the numberof defectssuchascavitiesand porosityshrinkage also significantlydecreases.Ultrasonic fieldcanpromote theuniform distributionof heterogeneousphaseandallyingelementsinthealuminummelt from therefiner,increasing the number of effective heterogeneous nuclei of α -Al.The best combined refinement effect is obtained when theultrasonic poweris1OooW.Finaly,thecombinedactionmechanismofultrasonicfieldandtherefinerisdiscused,andits microscopic actionatomic modelisgiven.
