Multi-Parameter Taguchi Robust Design for Performance Study ofSteel-Aluminum Spot Welding Joints

Abstract:This paper primarily introduces research on the process optimization of steel-aluminum spot welding jointperformanceand therobust designof welding parameters.Using the Pugh Matrix Analysis,the study compares solutionssuchasenhancedrivet materials,modifiedrivet structures,andoptimizedriveting/spotwelding parameters basedonfactorsincluding joint strength,weldnuggetdiameter,andcostefficiency,ultimatelyselectingsteelaluminum spot welding as theoptimal strategy.Subsequently,the Taguchi Methodand orthogonal experimentsare employed tostudythe influenceof weldingcurrnt,welding pressure,welding time,and electrodecapdiameteron joint strength of steel-aluminum spotwelding.Finall,asetofoptimalwelding parametersare selected from theperspective of maximizing shear strength,and steel aluminum spot welding and shear testsare conducted to verify their effectiveness and robustness.
