Effects of brief mindfulness-based stress reduction on preoperative anxiety in patients undergoing painless gastrointestinal endoscopy

【Abstract]Objective：Toinvestigate theefectsof brief mindfulness-based stressreduction（MBSR）onpreoperativeanxiety npatientsunergoingpainlessgastrontestialendosopy.Methods：WeenolledOpatientsshedledtoundergoelectivepalesas trointestinalendoscopyatTeFstAfiiatedHospitalofZhengzhouUniversityfroSeptember224toApril2O25.Teiclusioncriteria were：age，18-6O years；body mass index， 18.0-28.0kg/m2 ；American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status，class I or ⅡI ；and no gender restriction.The patients were assigned to experimental group（ n =50）or control group（n=5O）using a random numbertable.AdedicatedursingteamimplementedthebriefMBSRprotocol.At30minutesbeforeendoscopy，bothgroupsunderwent anxietyassessmentusingtheAmsterdam PreoperativeAnxietyandInformationScale（APAIS）.Allthepatientsreceivedroutinepreoperativeeducation.Guidedbytenurses，teexperimentalgroupreceivedtebrefMBSRinterventioconsistingofindfulbodysanning，mindfulbreathing，ndmindfulmusiclistening，for12miuteseachat3Ond15miutesbeforetheprocedure.Werecordedthe APAISscore，spectraldeartateH）tolloodpressure（BastolicblodpressureDB）ndal presure（MAP）at3Ominutesbeforetheprocedure（TO），afterbriefMBSR（T1），andimmediatelybeforeanesthesiainduction（T2）; thelengthofstayinthepost-anesthesiacareunit（ACU）andpostoperativeadversereactions；andtheAPAISscoreanddegrefatisfactionof patientsatdischarge fromthePACU（T3）.Results：Comparedwith the control group，the experimental group exhibited significantlylowerAPAISscores，significantlyreducedBISvalues，and significantly lowerHRvaluesatT1and T2and asignificantlylower APAIS score and a significantly higher degree of satisfaction at T3 （all P <0.05）.However，no significant differences were observed between the groups in SBP，DBP，MAP，postoperative adverse events，or PACU length of stay at any time point（all P>0.05 ）. Conclusion ： BriefMBRisanfetiveonpharmacologicalintervetiotoopewithperioperativeegativemotionsinpatitsundergoingpainlessgastroteldooclteityueeicoual，d satisfaction.
