Fabrication and properties of flexible strain sensor based on highly tough and self-healingpolyurethane

Abstract:Toaddressthe performance failure issues due to fatigue or mechanical damage in flexible strain sensors during use,this study prepared a high-toughness,self-healing polyurethane based ona multi-hydrogen bond network. Bycompositing it with conductive antimony tin oxide(ATO) nanofibers,a highlystable,self-healing flexible strain sensor was developed and extensivelycharacterized for its mechanical and sensing properties.Results indicate that the fabricated self-healing polyurethane exhibitsa9Oo% elongationatbreak anda tensile strengthof 8 MPa.The flexible strain sensor constructed fromthis polyurethane demonstrates a sensitivityas high as 240 withinastrain range of 4O%and maintains excellent cyclic stability.Additionally,thanks to the dynamic hydrogen bonding network of polyurethane,the sensor can fuly recoverits initial mechanical and sensing performance after being damaged by heating.
