Fabrication and characterization of cortisol-selective electrochemical sweat sensor basedoncarbonfibersubstrate

Abstract:Todevelopahigh-stabilityand high-sensitivityprobe-freecortisolsensorforwearablesweat monitoring,acarbon fiber(CF)-based composite electrode system was designed.Achitosan (CS)-Prussian blue (PB)/CF substrate was constructed through PB electrodeposition and CS coating via vacuum filtration.Subsequently,a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) layer was prepared using 0 -phenylenediamine as the functional monomer,ultimately forminga probe-free MIP/CS-PB/CF electrode.The morphology,electrochemical performance,and flexibility of theelectrode were investigated.Resultsdemonstrated thatPBand CS synergisticallenhanced electrode conductivity,whilethe MIPlayer enabled efficient recognition.The sensor achievedadetection limitof O.235 nmol/L with a linear range from1 to 10∘nmol/L ,exhibiting strong anti-interference against steroid analogs and common metabolites (selectivity coefficient >2 ). The electrode maintained stable performance with <1% resistance variation after1 2Oo bending cycles,demonstrated 3.01% relative standard deviation(RSD)in inter-batch repeatability,and showed only 2.4% signal attenuation over 7d.This electrode combines high sensitivity,selectivity,and mechanical stability,providing areliable technical solution for wearable health monitoring systems.
