Abstract: In this study,high-energy ball milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS) were employed to fabricate CuCr40 electrical contact materials with varying Bi contents.The hardnes,conductivity,density,surface arc motion behavior,and erosion morphology of the contacts were characterized,and their arc erosion resistance properties were analyzed. The results indicate that CuCr alloys doped with 2.5wt.% and 7.5wt.% Bi meet the fundamental performance requirements for contact materials.Following vacuum cathode discharge,the cathode of the 7.5wt.% Bi-doped contact exhibited a larger spot area and shallower ablation zone,demonstrating superior arc dispersion characteristics.Additionally,no significant ablative pitsor cracks wereobserved in theBi-doped contactsafterarc ablation.These findings suggest that CuCr contacts doped with 7.5wt.% Bi possess excellent arc motion and arc erosion resistance.
