Age-related Variation and Correlation Analysis Between Body Measurements and Body Weight in Ziwuling Black Nanny Goats

Abstract:Ziwuling Black Goat (also knownas Longdong Black Goat)isaunique local geneticresource in the Longdong regionofGansuProvince,characterizedbyitstolerancetocoarsefodder,trongadaptability,andhighmeatquality.However, influencedbymarketconditionsandfarmingpracticesinrecentyears,itspurebredpopulationhascontinuedtodecline,andthe mechanisms linkinggrowthpaterstobodysizeandweightremainunclear,limitingscientificbreedingandeficientfamingof this bred.Toanalyzethecorelationbetweenbodymeasurementsandbodyweightatdiferentages,providingatheoreticalfoundation andpracticalgudanceforstagespecificbreeding,precisionfeeding,andeficientpopulationexpansionoftisbreed.Atotalof94 nanny goats aged 6,12,24,36,and 48 months were evaluated under confined feeding.Body height (X1 ),bodylength (X2) ,chest girth (X3) ,andbodyweight(Y)wererecorded,andcorelationandpathanalyseswereperformed.Resultsshowedthat ZiwulingBlack naniesexhibitedsignfcantgrowthpotentialat6to12and24to36monthsofage,whilethegrowthratesloweddownafter36 months.Thechestgirthdemostratedtheighestcorelationcoeffcientwithbodyweightacrossallagestages,andpathanalysis revealeditsreatestdirecteect,indicatingthatitisteeybodysizeindicatorinfuencingbodyweightRegressonquatios constructedfordiferentgrowth stagesfurtherdemonstratedthatchest girthmaybeoneofthemoststablepredictorsofbodyweight in Ziwuling Black nannies.
