Abstract： To address the isue of the impact of govermment procurement on enterprises' ESG performance，this study takes Chinese A-share listed companies from 2016 to 2023 as the research sample and employs a fixed effects model to empiricaly analyze the influence of government procurement on enterprises'ESG performance. The research findings reveal that： government procurement exerts a significant promoting efect on enterprises' ESG performance; enhancing enterprises'green technology innovation level and facilitating enterprises'digital transformation are the pathways through which government procurement improves enterprises' ESG performance; the promoting effect of government procurement on enterprises'ESG performance is more pronounced in stateowned enterprisesand non-heavily polluting enterprises.The conclusions of thisstudy provideareference for further strengthening the promoting role of government procurement in enterprises' ESG performance.
