Abstract  Objectives：To analyze the incidence and risk factors of hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes.Methods：Articles on the incidence and/or risk factors of fear of hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes were searched in CNKI，Wanfang，VIP，Chinese Biomedical Literature Service system，PubMed，Web of Science，EMbase，Cochrane Library and Psycho INFO database.Articles were screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria，and data were meta⁃analyzed using Stata software.Results：A total of 25 literatures（13 in Chinese and 12 in English） were included，with a total of 20 334 patients.The incidence of fear of hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes was 44%.38 risk factors were included and 9 risk factors could be combined，among which the combined effect of 5 risk factors was statistically significant（P<0.05），including gender，duration，severe hypoglycemia，frequency of hypoglycemia within 6 months and insulin treatment.Conclusions：Current evidence suggests that the incidence of fear of hypoglycemia is high in patients with diabetes，and the type and gender of diabetes have an impact on the incidence of hypoglycemia fear in patients with diabetes.Gender，duration，severe hypoglycemia，frequency of hypoglycemia within 6 months，and insulin treatment were risk factors for fear of hypoglycemia.Clinical medical staff should identify and intervene patients at high risk of fear of hypoglycemia early，in order to reduce the incidence of fear of hypoglycemia.
