Salt Tolerance Evaluation and Screening of 40 Forage Oat Germplasm Resources During seeds Germination

Abstract:The germination period is the initial stage of the plantlifecycle.The germination abilityand vitality of seedsdetermine the plant's morphological construction.In order to investigate the degree ofsalt tolerance of different forage oat (Avena satiua L.) germplasm resources,4O forage oat germplasm resources were subjected to salt stress treatment with NaCl solutions at concentrations of O mmol·L-1 , 50mmol⋅L-1 , 100mmol⋅L-1 ,and 150 mmol·L-1 in the present study. The germination rate,germination potential,germination index,sed viability index,root length,and bud length were determined.Principal component analysis (PCA),afiliation function and cluster analysis were used to comprehensively evaluate the salt tolerance of the tested materials.The results showed that the germination rate,germination potential,germination index and seed vigor index of the 4O oat germplasms allshowed a decreasing trend with the increase of salt concentration. According to the comprehensive evaluation value ofsalt tolerance,cluster analysis was carried out on the 4O oats and they were divided into 4 categories:extremely salt-tolerant,salt-tolerant,salt-sensitive and extremely salt-sensitive.The extremely salt-tolerant variety‘AN22O’was initiallyscreened out,which showed strong salt tolerance at NaCl concentrations of 50~150mmol⋅L-1 ,and 25 extremely salt-sensitive varieties including‘AO5’‘AO6’‘AN281’,etc.
