Effects of Sucrose and IAA on Rhizome Carbon Metabolism and Hormone Content of Poa pratensis L. var. anceps‘Qinghai'

Abstract:To investigate the regulatory efects of sucrose(Suc)and indole-3-acetic acid(IAA)on rhizome development of kentucky bluegrass(Poa pratensis L.var.anceps),this study used‘Qinghai’as the experimental material to analyze the impacts of Suc and IAA on early rhizome sucrose metabolism and hormone contents.Theresults showed that both exogenous Suc and IAA promoted early rhizome development,but their mechanisms of action difered.Suc treatment could promote IAA synthesis or transport,increase IAA content in rhizomes,thereby enhancing sucrose absorption,activating the activities of sucrose decomposition-related enzymes,and this proceswas accompanied by starch accumulation. In contrast,IAA treatment could increase endogenous IAA content to promote sucrose transport to rhizomes,raise the activities of sucrose and starch decomposition enzymes,accelerate the decomposition of sucrose and starch,and inhibit starch accumulation,

thus facilitating rhizome development.Notably,Suc and IAA exhibited a synergistic effect during sucrose acumulation,while showing an antagonistic effect during starch accumulation.
