Design and implementation of online-offline integrated teaching based on problem-based learning and group discussions-a case study of Human Anatomy

Abstract:Objective:To constructa diversified teachingmodel by integratingproblem-based learning(PBL)witha blended onlineand ofline group discusson approach,aiming to explore anew method that can efectively enhance the teaching outcomes of Human Anatomy.Methods:Students of Grade 2023 majoring in general medicine in 2023 were selected as subjects.Classes 2and 3 were assigned as the experimental group,receiving the "PBL + group discussion" blended teaching model,whileClasses1and4servedasthecontrolgroup,following traditional teaching methods.Academic performance and teaching efectiveness evaluations were compared between thetwo groups.Results : The experimental groupshowed significantly higheroverallassessment soresand final theoretical examinationresults than thosee of the control group,with statistical significance( P<0.05 ). Students in the experimental group experienced higher satisfaction with learning interest,learning initiative,and classroom organization. Conclusion: The "PBL + group discussion" blended onlineandofline teaching modelcaneffectivelyimprovestudents'academicperformance,enhancetheirlearning interest, self-directed learning ability,and teamwork skills.
