Abstract：ObjectiveTo compare the efficacy of percutaneous baloon compression（PBC）and partial sensory rhizotomy（PSR）inthetreatmentof trigeminal neuralgia（TN）．MethodsTheclinical dataof135TNpatients admited fromJanuary 2O19 toDecember 2O21 werecolected.According tothe different treatmentmethods，the patients were separated into PBC group（65 cases）and PSR group（7O cases）.The efficacy of the two groups were compared，and thediferencesinneurotransmiter indicators，oxidative stress indicators，qualityof life， complications，and recurrence rates between the two groups were observed.ResultsThe overalleffectiveness of the PSR group was higher than that of the PBC group（P<0.05） .Fourweeks after surgery，the PSR group had higher levelsof5-hydroxytryptamine（5-HT）andbeterqualityoflifescorescompared tothePBC group.Levelsofcalcitonin gene-related peptide（CGRP），vasoactive intestinal peptide（VIP），andsubstance P（SP）were lower in the PSR group（ P<0. 05 ）.Both groups showed increased serum cortisol（Cor），myeloperoxidase（MPO），superoxide dismutase（SOD），and glutathione peroxidase（GSH- ⋅Px ）levels four weeks after surgery compared to before surgery. The PSR group had higher SODand GSH- Px levels，and lower Cor and MPO levels，than the PBC group（ P<0.05） The PBC group had fewer complications like facial numbnessand nausea/vomiting after surgery compared to the PSR group（ P<0.05 ）.However，the recurrence rate at six months was higher in the PBC group than in the PSR group （ P<0.05 ）.ConclusionsAlthough the incidence of postoperative complications in PSR treatment was slightly higher than thatinPBC treatment，PSRachieved more significant overall clinical outcomes，withalowerrecurrence rate and improved quality of life in TN patientscompared with PBC.
