Abstract:【Objective】This studyaims toclarifythe spatial distribution characteristics,polutionstatus,andsourcesof heavy metals in urban andagricultural soils surrounding Dushan Mountain mining area in Nanyang City.【Method】 Sampling sites Were established across13 counties (districts)of Nanyang City.Theconcentrations ofCr,Ni,Cu,Cd, PbandMninsoil samples were analyzed.Spatial interpolationwas employed to investigate distributionpatterns. Ecologicalrisk assessments were conductedusing singlepolution index,Nemerowcomposite index,and potential ecological risk index.Human health risks were evaluated through Monte Carlo coupled simulation.Source apportionment was performed via the absoluteprincipal component scores-multiple linear regresion(APCS-MLR)receptor model. 【Result】(1)Theconcentrations of Cr,Ni,Cu,Cd,Pband Mninstudied soils exceededregional backgroundvalues, showing distinct spatial heterogeneity.(2)Single pollution index and Nemerow composite index assessments revealed Cd as the most severe contaminant,with 84% of surface soil samples reaching moderate or higher Cd pollution levels.The potential ecological risk index(RI)indicated only 4% ofsampling points exhibited extremely high ecological risk. (3)Health risk evaluationdemonstrated that non-carcinogenic risks for adultsand childrenremained within acceptable thresholds,whilecombined carcinogenic risks from Cr,Ni,Cuand Cdshowednostatistical significance.(4)The APCS-MLR receptor model infered suggested Cr,Ni,Cuand Mnoriginated from pedogenic sources,whereas Cdand Pb derived from industrial and transportation mixed sources.【Conclusion】The surrounding soils of Dushan mining area exhibit discernibleheavymetal contaminationwith ecological andhealth implications,necessitating targetedpolution control measures byrelevant authorities.
