Research on the Use of Academic Paper Writing Planners in North American University Libraries: Implicationsand Insights

Abstract UniversitylibrariesinNorthAmericahaveefectivelyintegrated information literacyeducationwithResearch Assignment Calculators (RACs), which play an important role in supporting teaching and research.This paper examines four representativeRACcases from North Americanuniversities,explains the principles behindRACs,andcompares the writing-guidance frameworks used in theseexamples.The findings show that RACs provide a flexible paper-writing framework composed of three elements:task-step planning,time allcation,and guidance content.The framework is typicallydivided into four stages,with each case showing variations instep planning and time distribution at dierent stages.In general,RACsarecapable of dilivering personalized customizedservices and contextualizeduser experiences, thereby enabling systematic and progressive information-literacy education.
