A Practical Framework for Promoting Children’s Reading from a Child-Friendly Perspective: A Case Study of the “Monthly Reading Birthday Party”at Jinling Library

Abstract Since thebeginning of the14th Five-YearPlan,theconceptofchild-friendlinesshasreceived growing atentionacross sectors,and public libraries have begun to explore related practices in areas such as spatial design, resource development,and service optimization.Introducing Henri Lefebvre’s concept of the production of space,this paper summarizes the key practical elements of children’s reading promotion through the three dimensions of“spacecontent-emotion”.Basedon areview of policies related to child-friendlydevelopment and taking the“Monthly Reading Birthday Party”at Jinling Libraryas arepresentative case,the paper ilustrates how policy elementscan be transformed intopractical pathways.It further constructs a practical framework comprising guiding principles,three-dimensional practiceelements,andsupporting strategies,withtheaimofproviding theoreticalandpracticalreferences fordeepenng child-friendly initiatives and advancing high-qualitychildren's services in public libraries.
