[Abstract]Lumbar fusion has shown satisfactory clinical results in the treatment of degenerative spinal diseases requiring stable decompression， but theoccurrenceof adjacent segment disease （ASD）may be accelerated after lumbar fusion， which seriously affects clinical prognosis and quality of life.Due to thecomplexity of its clinicalcharacteristics，it isparticularlyimportant toclarify itsriskfactors，whichcanbebroadlycategorized into the patients'own natural degenerative factors and the medical factors related to the surgery with the deepening of research by scholars at home and abroad.Therefore，this paper providesan overview of the risk factors that may cause theoccurrence of ASD， sothat it can also provide more evidence and references for how to prevent the occurrence of ASD after lumbar spine surgery in the clinic.
