Application value of optimization of iodine contrast agent dosage combined with lowtubevoltage in headand neck CTA

【Abstract】ObjectiveTo explorethe aplication value of lowdoseof iodine contrastagent combined with low tube voltage in head and neck CTangiography(CTA).MethodsA prospective study was conducted,and12O patients who underwent headandneck CTA wererandomlydivided into two groups,with 6Opatients ineachgroup,anddiferent scanning andcontrast medium injection protocolswereemployed for each group.Study group were given low-dose iodinated contrast agent (5 mL) with an 8O kV tube voltage,and a contrast agent dosage of 0.6mL/kg ,while control group were given a standard-dose iodinated contrast agent(15 mL)with a 100kV tube voltage,and a contrast agent dosage of 0.9mL/kg Andthen,basic information,imagequalityscores,signal-to-noiseratio(SNR)andcontrast-to-noiseratio(CNR)of main vessels,as wellasCTdoseindex(CTDIvol),dose-length product(DLP),efectiveradiation dose(ED),and iodine contrastagentdosage between thetwo groups werecompared.ResultsThere was no statisticallysignificant diference in age,gender,BMI,and subjective image quality scores between the two groups ( P>0.05 ). Similarly,there was no statistically significant difference in main vessel SNR and CNR between the two groups( P>0.05 ).The CTDIvol,DLP,ED,and iodinecontrast mediumusageofthestudy group weresignificantlylowerthan thoseof thecontrol group,andthedifference was statistically significant ( P<0.05 ).ConclusionRational optimization of iodinated contrast volume and reduction of tube voltage in headandneck CTAcan preserve diagnostic imagequalitywhile significantlylowering bothradiation exposure andiodineloadtothepatients.However,furtherexplorationisstillneededforlowerefectivetubevoltagevaluesandmoreoptimized contrast agent dosages.
